You may be in luck. Microsoft is coming out with the NEW version of the Hard Drive Transfer Kit. The new data transfer cable has a connection to allow transfers between slim hard drives. It was supposed to be out already but they are now saying "October 2011" so stay tuned. (see link below)
I had to do what you're doing with the GoW3 console. I used a 16gb USB and it wasn't that bad because you can clean up your hard drive first, then do transfers either one category at a time or by game, etc.How do you transfer data from xbox to xbox?
Nice! Thanks for responding! I actually went to the Microsoft Store in the Mall of America today and they didn't have any but they called it in and are sending me one as well. I don't really need anymore but I want to have one available.

You can remove the Hard drive from the top of the xbox and insert it into your new one, unless your upgrading from the White version to the black version as the White xboxs hard drive doesn't work! Which sucks as you need to re do all achievements -_-
