if its wireless from PC via a card or adapter there is no way to turn off your PC while on live. if its a wireless modem / router it's a constant wirless connection and should need a PC to have it on.
If you go to a store such as Best Buy or an electronic store you can find a wireless thing for Xbox Live and it costs $100 but it works very well.
