You could try that, but you won't be able to connect an original Xbox to Xbox Live any more. All Xbox Live support for the original Xbox and all of it's games was shut down two months ago.

How do I hook up my old Xbox to Xbox Live using my laptop?
I have an almost brand new laptop with windows 7, but I do not know what to do to connect my xbox to Xbox live through it. I have a modem and I think an ethernet cord...How do I hook up my old Xbox to Xbox Live using my laptop?
