I am trying to hook up an xbox 360 to xbox live by connecting the ethernet cable to a laptop that connects to the internet though a wireless network. Is this possible or what is my other options? Computer that router is on is Windows 7. Laptop that I am trying to connect with is windows xp.

Not sure what you mean? Is it your xbox profile your trying to get access to on your laptop? you can do that through xbox.com, normal connection is ethernet from modem to wireless router then ethernet from router that connects to xbox.. but if you want wireless you need an adapter.
