Personally I would take the PS3 any day. It's more open to customization and next to the games, the system is a full media beast. Music, videos, pictures- all stored in a very accessible and attractive way. In addition, it features a much larger array of file types than the 360.
As far as the internet goes, this is a huge benefit on the PS3's part. After all, if I already pay for my house internet why on earth should I pay further for a membership to Xbox live?
Also, in the case of the controller, I agree that the 360 controller is better. But on the flip side, use the PS3 controller for just a few days and you'll be completely used to it.
The 360, I think, is better for raw, hardcore gaming, but I think that overall the PS3 does more and it is a more 'artistic' system. It just really depends on what you want from the system,
However, as long as you don't get a Wii, you'll be happy.
I dont think it really matters sam the video comparison is virtually the same .One important thing you should look at is what games are xbox or playstation only .eg halo is x box only and playstation have ps only games as well ..

I have both ps3 and xbox 360 so i will not be biast.
Between xbox360 and ps3, Well they are pretty much the exact same (don't give me graphics crap) except for the interface, controllers, games and online community. I personally prefer xbox because I like the feel of the controller and the interface is quite nice and simple. Xbox has xbla (xbox live arcade) where you can buy any game including new releases. Xboxs online community is far better than ps3 as i have found and paying 40$ a year doesn't phase me too much. I will finish this later. gtg.
if you want to play online xbox 360 because of so many people online but if u want to play just mainly story single player games ps3 for the blu-ray and graphics. i have the xbox 360 because i love playing online.

The xbox is better in my opinion because it has a much cooler controller and it doesn't require much space. Also for the variety of games.

First of all, Xbox is NOT the better online console, I am far too geeky for my own good and decided to test the two and most of the time ps3 is better and has a better community. Most fanboys base their views on the origional choice they blindly made whereas I looked properly into both systems before choosing the ps3. I am not going to use any gimmiky nonsense for my argument (eg better controller) as these things do not make a better system (on a hypocritical note comfort is subject to opinion but ps3 control does work much better). If you are a casual gamer it really does just come down to which exclusives you prefer, Xbox is generally a shooter fest with no real plot and all about the adrenaline, although I admit this can be fun (except fable but that game is nothing more than fanboy fiction) whreas ps3 has more range and the games tend to be more in depth or story driven. Both systems cater for both a casual and hardcore audience in some way but generally Xbox is casual and ps3 is hardcore (sorry to the deluded fanboys but that is fact). Although having said they both cater in some way for everyone, the only actual hardcore games on Xbox are not exclusive.
if somebody was to choose between the two with no fanboy opinions the decision should be base soley on that person's views on exclusives, but ps3 is undeniably a better console and is much more reliable.
