windows media player detects the xbox but xbox does not detect PCHow do you get an Xbox 360 to connect to PC?
You''ll need to have your Xbox 360 connected to your home network. If you don't know how to do this, look it up. Once you've got that done, make sure your Windows XP has Service Pack 2 (SP2), SP3 (Service Pack 3) works as well. If you don't have it, download it. Once that's all taken care of, you'll need one of the following pieces of software:
*Windows Media Player;
*Microsoft Zune.
Either one will work, in fact you might already have an older version on Media Player so if you want to upgrade it go into Windows Media Player, choose "Help", then choose "Check For Player Updates". Once Windows Media Player 11 is installed, make sure your Xbox 360 is on.
In Windows Media Player, click "Library", then "Media Sharing", then select "Share my media" and click on "OK". Your console should show up. Click it and press "Allow".
Now, go to your Xbox 360, go to the "Media" area. Select either Music, Pictures or Video. I'll pick Video as an example, then select "Computer", then pick something to play. Now, you've got video streaming off your PC through your Xbox 360 on your television. It works for MP3's as well.
Now, if you want to take Music off your Zune, use the Zune software. Click "Options", then "Library", then click on "Media Sharing". Then select "Share my media", select your options (Music, Video or Pictures), then choose "OK".
Hilariously, you cannot connect to both the WIndows Media Player and the Zune software at the same time.
To switch between the two, go to your Xbox 360's "System" area. Select "Computers". Here, you can disconnect from one and reconnect to the other. Whichever way you connect, it's nice to know that the movies and music you download on your PC, can be transferred to your television via the Xbox 360.
Hope this helped.
