What is the difference between xbox 360, xbox 360 elite and xbox 360 arcade?

And are there other ones too? My friend has xbox live and it's so cool so i want to get it so which one should i get? And how do i get xbox live.. do i plug the xbox into my computer internet? and how much is xbox live a month? What other things will i need also? THANKS!!What is the difference between xbox 360, xbox 360 elite and xbox 360 arcade?
Hard drive size is about the only difference, and elite is black while others are white. Elite comes with a 120gb hard drive, regular xbox comes with 60gb i believe, arcade comes with no hard drive. You get xbox live by buying a gold subscription. You can plug it in to your router, or get a wireless adapter for $87 at walmart(I think that was the price the last time i checked). I think it's $50 for a year of xbox live.
Xbox 360 Core

The Xbox 360 Core was an entry level version of the Xbox 360 which is now discontinued and replaced by the Xbox 360 Arcade. The Core system came with composite video cables which were capable of only SDTV resolutions but some of the newer models have an HDMI output for use with HDMI Cables. The Core system was shipped with a wired controller and no Xbox 360 Hard Drive as found with some of the other models although these can be bought additionally.

Xbox 360 Arcade

The Xbox 360 Arcade is the replacement for the Xbox 360 Core system. It is shipped with a Wireless Control Pad, 256mb memory unit and 5 Xbox Live titles which are Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man Championship Edition and Uno and it also comes with a few games trailers to persuade you to buy further Xbox 360 titles.

Xbox 360 Pro / Premium

The Xbox 360 Pro or Premium comes with everything the Core system does and includes a hybrid composite and component cable with optional optical out instead of a composite cable. This also came with a 20gb Hard Disk (now 60gb) which can store downloaded content, demos and videos and a wireless Xbox 360 controller.

Xbox 360 Elite

The Xbox 360 Elite is the most expensive Xbox 360 Console Package. It also includes a 120 GB hard drive and a matte black finish. The Xbox 360 Elite retail package also includes an HDMI cable and a controller and headset that match the system's black finish. What is the difference between xbox 360, xbox 360 elite and xbox 360 arcade?
Well, XBOX 360 normal has 20GB storage with no wifi and no HD DVD player.XBOX Elite comes with 120GB storage with wifi and HD DVD player. Finally XBOX Arcade is the cheapest and comes with 5 games bundled in with it.But, here is the major catch, the thing comes without a harddrive!!!! So you cant store games on it and you will have to buy an external memory drive for it.

XBOX live will cost you somewhere around 5-10$ per month(ask your friend as price varies from region to region).Yes, you will have to connect it with your router(take an ethernet cable from your router/modem to the 360).

On a personal note, I would suggest you save up a little more and buy the PS3.I have both and I feel the 360 sucks(mine broke 2 times and it is a case with 30%(yes 30%) of all 360 users). Also, PS3 has a great exclusive line up installed for 2009(God Of War 3,Killzone 2,Quantum Theory,MAG,Twisted Metal,Infamous......)
get the regular one not elite o arcade just a 360

You need a wireless adapter if u have a wireless connection if not u need a ethernet wall plugin you can take the wire giving internet to your computer and put it in your xbox and play live

Xbox arcade is the one without a hard drive, Xbox Premium has a 60 GB hard drive and Component HD cables, and Xbox 360 elite is a black Xbox 360 with a 120GB Hard Drive, HDMI Cable and 1 month free Xbox Live Gold membership
the arcade plays just 360 games but pro and elite play some xbox games plus the hard drive size and elite is black also some things like headset and ethernet cable only come with elite and pro
If u have the money for the Elite then get it. It comes with 120gb hard drive. Most xbox or all xbox 360 comes with the HDMI output.
Alice, I don't use any cooling fans and our Xbox is fine.
Actually, it's a lot different than the PS3 40GB and 60GB.. with the Xbox 360 the base console hardware is always the same.. the only difference between the bundles is the accessories.. with the PS3 the hardware is different.. the 60GB PS3 has 97% backwards compatibility to PS2 games.. the 40GB PS3 has 0% backwards compatibility because they took out the hardware that supported it.. and there is no way to upgrade the 40GB PS3 to have the capability of the 60GB PS3..

Here is a rundown of Xbox 360 bundles:

Price:

Arcade: $279.99

Premium: $349.99 (Pro is the same as Premium)

Halo SE: $399.99

Elite: $449.99

Storage:

Arcade: 256MB memory unit

Premium %26amp; Halo SE: 20GB hard drive

Elite: 120GB hard drive

Video Cable:

Arcade: Composite cable

Premium %26amp; Halo SE: Component HD cable (up to 1080p)

Elite: Component HD cable + HDMI cable (both up to 1080p)

Color:

Arcade %26amp; Premium: White

Halo SE: “Spartan green and gold”

Elite: Black

Other stuff:

Premium %26amp; Halo SE %26amp; Elite: ethernet cable

Premium %26amp; Halo SE %26amp; Elite: Xbox Live headset

Halo SE: Play and Charge kit

Other than that some Premium %26amp; Elite packages have 2 games packed in.. the Arcade has a disk with 5 arcade game.. All consoles now come with a wireless controller.. All consoles have a HDMI output port..

Basically the Arcade is good to get started with.. the memory unit can be used to save games.. you can play online on Xbox Live.. you can add on the hard drive later if you want.. If you plan to play online a lot or plan to download xbox live arcade games or other content from xbox live you will probably want the Premium.. If you plan to download lots of content like High Def movies from the marketplace you will want the Elite. The only difference between the Halo SE and the Premium is the coloring and the Halo SE comes with a play and charge kit for the controller..

Because the base systems are the same when you decide you need more functionality in the future you can just buy the additional accessories.. so say you buy an Arcade today and later decide you should have bought the Elite.. you can buy the 120GB hard drive, video cables and Xbox Live headset and end up with the exact same functionality as you would have had with the Elite (it just won't be black)..
