Can I just buy a memory card for xbox 360 to play xbox games?

I just bought a xbox 360, no hard drive. I stuck a game in ( xbox not xbox 360 ) and it told me that I need a hard drive to play those games. So I was wondering can I buy a memory card or two and play the game? If not I'm just going to sell it.Can I just buy a memory card for xbox 360 to play xbox games?
yeah you can just get yourself a memory card and play it.. also make sure on the back of the game case that it says memory card compatible. if you want a cheap hard drive... buy a 20G for like $20-40 or a 60G for $100 i would recommend getting the hard drive though. it has a lot more room then a memory card.

the 60gb hard drive isn't overly expensive though

the only thing you cant do is go on xbox live with a memory card

Just buy a refurb 20Gb hard drive for cheap at gamestop. Yes you need a hard drive and internet connnection to download and update to play original XBOX games.
You can get a 512 MB memory card for $50.

At the same time you can get a new 60gig for $100

but while you see that you can get a used 120gig for the same price as a new 60.

but like the guy before me said a memory card will be good up to about 9 or 10 game saves maybe more

you also cant play any old xbox games unless you have a hard drive

because the memory card doesnt have enough space to hold the emulator that you need to play the old xbox games
