How long will the xbox 360 life be before they discontinue it?

When can we expect an xbox 720/ or xbox 3. I just bought a 360 and i hope successor isnt coming out like 2011. has microsoft made an announcement.How long will the xbox 360 life be before they discontinue it?
it's been speculated around 2016. Every platform producer out there has said this generation of consoles is going to hold much longer than previous generations because this generation of consoles is not only sufficiently advanced, but also with the economy recovering, not as many people are going to be prepared to make another large investment on a console, and companies realize that and plan to ride it out until the technology has become noticably more advanced than their current system. Even if we assume Microsoft beats everyone to the punch again you're looking at an estimate of around 2015~

nooo... no announcement.. "360" has to do with the angle you are spose to put It in.. the next xbox (IF they ever release one) will not be called the 720... which makes no sense.. or xbox 3.. they will probly make a completley different console.. my guess is it would come out late 2011-2013 if they do make one.. ( they wont discontinue the 360 if a new console comes out either, they haven't discontinued the xbox and have no plans on doing so.-How long will the xbox 360 life be before they discontinue it?
Nothing official but you can look at the shelf lives of past systems.



The PS1 was introduced in the Winter of 1994. Six years later the PS2 was released Winter 2000. Six years later, the PS3 was released Winter 2006. If this pattern continues, one could assume that the next generation of systems will be released 6 years from the previous release, or Winter of 2012.
