How do I connect my XBOX to my wireless internet?

I am trying to connect to XBOX Live using my wireless network. I know you can buy an adapter, which is pricey. I have heard rumors of being able to do it without cables or router or adapters. Keep in mind that I have a regular XBOX, not XBOX 360! Any help would be appreciated!How do I connect my XBOX to my wireless internet?
The Xbox 360 wireless internet adapter has to be the one for Xbox since the drivers are installed on it. It costs about $100 and you can purchase it at any electronic store: Best Buy, Circuit City, places like Target, Walmart, Amazon, Ebay, New Egg, etc.





If you have a laptop or computer near your xbox, you can run an ethernet cable from the comp. to the xbox and set your computer to share internet. I just figured this out yesterday, as I really didn't want to pay $100 for the adapter.



I know it will work with XP and Vista though...

I just did this yesterday on my Mac and it works great. My router is not near my computer or Xbox, so I hooked an ethernet cable from my computer ethernet port to the xbox ethernet port. Then I turned on internet sharing. It should work right away...if not, you may need to configure your xbox (I had to on my Mac but I haven't seen anything for Windows to make you do it...but just in case..)

In your XBOX dashboard, go to System --%26gt; Network Settings--%26gt; Edit Settings

See the above link to see what to type in. I can to play with it some. MINE SAYS THIS:

IP Settings: Manual

IP Address: 192.168.2.2 (this could also be .2.1 at the end)

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.2.1 (or .2.2)

DNS Settings: Manual

Primary DNS Server: 192.168.2.1

Secondary DNS Server: (same as above)
